Children's Ministries

We delight in our children, and want them to know they are loved by God.

  • Sunday School: Classes for four-year olds through high school age are taught by teams of adults (including parents) and older youth from 9:20 a.m. to 10:15 a.m. each Sunday during the school year. The preschool class and elementary school age classes meet in the School building. The middle school and high school classes meet in Johnson Hall.   We can always use good teachers.
  • Children's Chapel/Godly Play: The purpose of this ministry is to support children in our Montessori program as they grow in their relationship with God. In St. Luke's Children's Chapel we modify the environment, do storytelling, follow our order of worship, and use materials in an intentional way--a way that lets children enter into parables, silence, sacred stories, and sacred liturgy. Our Storytellers and Greeters use materials and story scripts from Berryman's Godly Play series and Berryman and Stewart's Young Children and Worship. What makes this program unique is its combination of a very structured environment coupled with opportunities for each child to experience the stories and language of the Christian people in a deep and meaningful way. Come see our children learn and have fun doing it.
  • Nursery:   The Nursery is offered for infants to 3 year-olds in the school building every Sunday morning from 9 a.m. until 11:45 a.m. The Nursery has a paid employee and at least one volunteer on a weekly rotating basis. Volunteers are always needed for this important ministry.
