St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in Durham, North Carolina is very pleased to announce that it has issued a call to the Reverend Greg Farrand to be its new Rector and that he has accepted the call. His first Sunday at St. Luke’s will be March 30, 2025.
Greg Farrand (pronounced FAIR-und) has been an Episcopal priest since 2016 and a Presbyterian minister since 2002. Greg started his Episcopal journey at Holy Trinity Episcopal Church in Greensboro, North Carolina, as an associate rector, where he led the Youth Ministry, the Young Adult Ministry, the Adult Pilgrimage Ministry, and Spiritual Formation—in addition to sermons, teaching, and pastoral care.
While at Holy Trinity, Greg helped lead a dynamic ministry called the Servant Leadership School, and with Holy Trinity’s blessing, Servant Leadership became the Second Breath Center, its own 501(c)3 nonprofit. At that point, Greg became the Executive Director.
After securing the Second Breath Center’s foundation, Greg started his own business in organizational consulting including team building, organizational assessment, conflict resolution, coaching, strategic development, and more. He also has continued to serve as a supply priest helping with preaching, Eucharist, Spiritual Formation, weddings, and funerals.
Greg is 52, has three grown sons, and was recently married to Andra West, who has two teenage daughters. Greg and Andra will continue to live in Greensboro, so their girls can finish high school there.
We at St. Luke’s are very excited about the start of a new chapter in the life of our church. Building on the wonderful work of our Interim Rector, the Rev. Susan Keedy, we look forward to a new era of growth.
