2020 has been a difficult year for the 9 families that are part of this year’s Share Your Christmas effort.

Four families have lost, or are about to lose, their housing. One mother is living in her car and has had to find other situations for her teenaged children. Another saw her rent increase from $800 to $1300 monthly as a result of gentrification. Another family can no longer afford their mortgage payment and need to figure out where to go when they are evicted. Still another person is living in a home that is so damaged, she cannot afford to repair it. She is trying to sell the house so she can move.

Food insecurity plagues other families. A single father with four children can’t afford to buy the food they need. His children used to receive breakfast and lunch each day—10 meals, per child, per week—at their school. With schools closed, he can go to the school and pick up 3 meals per child, per week. He and others used to count on St. Luke’s food pantry to stretch their supplies, but COVID-19 has closed our pantry.

Still other families have faced serious illness this year which has limited or ended major wage earners’ ability to work. Others have members who have lost jobs, or have had to take lower paying jobs, because of closures necessitated by the pandemic.

How to give:

To help us bring some joy to these families at Christmas, please include St. Luke’s Families in your donation this year. To make sure we have time to purchase gift cards and get them to the families before Christmas, please make your donation to St. Luke’s Families by December 16.

Since support for St. Luke’s Families goes initially to St. Luke’s, it is handled in the same way as the other St. Luke’s donations. You may make a single donation to one, several, or all of these funds, indicating how you want your overall donation to be split among them:

You may make your donation to these funds in any of the following ways:
