The activities of Musikgarten are currently suspended due to COVID 19 until further notice.

Through music, movement, story-telling, and praying experiences of parent and child together, the faith of BOTH can be strengthened, enhanced, and enlivened. Opportunities for sharing the life of faith can be encouraged through songs, dance, and creative expressions, which are a natural part of a young child’s world. The activities in Musikgarten are designed to encourage enthusiastic participation by both the child and the accompanying caregiver. Children hear scripture and poetry, play rhythm instruments, dance, experience recorded story movement (where a story is heard, then acted out creatively to music), have listening time, and explore sensory movement.

Lauren Sloan Nelson is a certified Musikgarten teacher, offering class for ages 3-5 on Sunday mornings September-May as part of St. Luke’s Christian formation. Classes for infants-5 are available to the general public during the week.

I would teach children music, physics, and philosophy; but most importantly music, for the patterns in music and all the arts are the keys to learning.
