Are You Confused About What to Recycle and Where to Take Items? Unsure if a used light bulb from a bedside table, a battery from a remote control, a pair of worn shoes, or an empty pasta box goes in RECYCLE or GARBAGE? Plan to attend a zoom webinar, “Reducing Our Impact on God’s Creation” sponsored by WSBC’s Creation Care Ministry. On Monday, March 13, from 7 – 8:30 pm, you will learn about more options than you can imagine exist because of some creative people and businesses in Durham. We will help clarify what can and cannot be placed in your BLUE recycle cart. There will be ample time for questions. Here is your zoom link: https://bit.ly/ccm3-13. You can also use this QR code. “Rector and Friends Bible study”, Tuesday, March 14, 7 to 8:15 p.m. on Zoom. Please plan to participate in our Bible study, every second and fourth Tuesday, led by Rector Time Certain Rhonda Lee. We are currently reading Ecclesiastes, an intriguing book in the Wisdom tradition of the Bible. The author of Ecclesiastes is older, has seen a lot, and has some thoughts about how to live faithfully in this flawed world. After Ecclesiastes, we’ll decide which book to read next. You won’t have to prepare in advance for our sessions, although you’re welcome to read ahead if you’d like. We’ll read and discuss the text together. Creating Friendship for Peace (CFP) invites families living in the Durham/Chapel Hill area to consider a monthlong volunteer teen hosting opportunity for Summer 2023. We are seeking residencies for teen pairs arriving from Israel/Palestine and the island of Cyprus– both countries with divided lands. Your willingness to open your home for the month of July for this peace-through-friendship-building program will offer teens a memorable and transformative experience– the chance to dialogue, develop unlikely friendships and re-imagine their lives as future leaders in a peaceful country. If you are interested in learning more about conflict prevention through our friendship program or have questions about CFP, please contact Betsy Small at: betsys@friendships4peace.org (603-769-9383) or Linda Ziglar atlindaz@friendships4peace.org.
