Episcopal Farmworker Ministry Annual “Back to School Drive”
You can participate by contributing school supplies to the collection box in the narthex on Sunday July 18th or 25th, OR participate in a drive-by drop off Saturday July 24th from 11am – 1pm at St Luke’s.
With your help, we hope to provide 450 backpacks full of school supplies for the students, children of farmworkers, donated from across the Diocese. Some ideas for donations are: paper, binders, pencils, pencil sharpeners, index cards, highlighters, black and blue pens, crayons, glue sticks, scissors, and backpacks. You can find a full list of supplies by grade on this website. We will accept loose supplies as well as ready-to-go back packs.

Thank you for supporting this important ministry! Contact Rich Kells with questions

ONLINE WORSHIP at 9:30 THIS WEEK
We will be testing out live-streaming this Sunday, so we plan to go live on Facebook at 9:30 (not 10:00).  The worship should be available to watch anytime after that on Facebook, and posted to YouTube later in the day.
If you access online worship this week, please let Helen know how it worked for you.

POSTPONED: St. Luke’s Panel 1975-1994
We are postponing the July St. Luke’s Panel.  We will offer a normal online coffee hour this Sunday at 11am, and plan to offer this panel on August 15th.

INTRODUCING INTERN DANIEL LaVENTURE

Dear People of St. Luke’s,

Hello! My name is Dan LaVenture, and I will be your diocesan intern for the next six months as I discern a call to the priesthood. I’m looking forward to meeting each of you! My sponsoring parish is the Church of the Advocate in Chapel Hill, but I’ve lived in Durham for about five years. I’m originally from Winston-Salem, but came to Durham to go to Duke Divinity School, where in addition to my general studies, I got a concentration in Theology and the Arts. I love thinking about how church communities can incorporate art into their worship and communal life. In particular, I focused on culinary arts, thinking about how eating can be an act of reverence and worship. I now work production for Black and White Coffee Roasters in Raleigh, helping ensure that deliciousness abounds. Let’s share a cup sometime!
