New This Week
In July, we will practice gathering with more people indoors.  Signup here.  We will have one weekly, masked indoor service at 9:30. The congregation will continue to be masked as an act of generous hospitality to children who cannot yet be vaccinated and transplant recipients and others on medication that reduce the efficacy of vaccines. MASKS REQUIRED WHILE IN BUILDING FOR WORSHIP //exception: Worship leaders may remove masks while inside the altar rail and at the organ.//Keep socially distanced while entering and exiting. Please no congregating within the building.  If you would like to greet/chat with others, do so outdoors, not blocking flow to the parking lot.  Chairs are in pods with some social distancing. Communion bread brought to your seat. No congregational singing yet.  (We are practicing this with Hymn Sings and other gatherings). Stickers will be available.  GREEN=I am vaccinated and comfortable with hugs.  YELLOW=I’m comfortable in a masked conversation but not ready for handshakes/hugs. ORANGE=My comfort level is staying socially distanced today. HYMN SING WEDNESDAY!
One and all are invited to our June Hymn Sing.  Sing a lot, sing a little, or just listen in.  Wednesday, June 30th from 7:00-8:15.  Please arrive at Johnson Hall between 6:45-7:00 to get checked in and settled.  More information and sign up here.

VIDEO: ST. LUKE’S 1959-1974
We had a wonderful Panel of members last Sunday who discussed what life was like at St. Luke’s between 1959 and 1974.  Get some movie snacks and sit down to watch here.

The next monthly+ food distribution at El Buen Pastor will be Saturday, July 3 from 7:30am-1pm.  Anyone 16+ is welcome to help all or part of the time.  Feel free to invite your friends!  1852 Liberty St.  For more information, or to get on the e-mail reminder list, contact Peter Jacobi.
At the July 19th Vestry meeting we will be electing our new Diocesan Convention Delegate.  This person will serve a 3-year term.  We will also elect 3 alternates for one-year terms.
The person with the most votes becomes the 3-year delegate and the three next highest votes become our alternate delegates for this year.  Our current delegates are Bobbie Hendrix and Jan Freeman.
The delegate needs to be able to attend Diocesan Convention all day on Fri, Nov 19 and Sat, Nov 20.  (With a similar time frame in 2022 and 2023)
This year’s convention is planned as an in-person event in  Winston-Salem, but our delegates should be able to attend online if required.
If you would like to be considered as a delegate, please send your name to Senior Warden, Eileen Morgan, by July 1, 2021

Summer fun and formation from the Diocese of North Carolina. Our St. Luke’s children will receive 6 mailings (one every other week) beginning the week of June 7. Each postcard will include a link where families can find a Bible story, an activity, prayers, a list of books to check out at their local library, and simple ways to care for creation. If you have questions, please contact Laura.

The  diocesan Pauli Murray service will be shared online on July 1 at 7p.m. The Rev’d Kim Jackson, Georgia state senator, will preach.  Several St. Luke’s members are part of the virtual choir, edited by our own Kaye Saunders.  The service can be viewed on the St.Titus’ Facebook page; the Diocese of North Carolina Facebook page and YouTube channel; and the  Pauli Murray Project Facebook page

All workdays begin at 7:30 and last until 10:00 or as long as you can stay.  Bring a hat, gloves, water and tools.  Contact the workday leader for more information.
