MORE USHERS NEEDED!
One thing we need in place before we go back to weekly worship is a larger Usher Team. This important ministry greets worshipers, ensures they find seats and have a way to access the bulletin,  keeps an accurate list of attendees, and other duties to keep the flow moving to and from our services.  We would like to have another 10-12 ushers in place so that each would serve once a month.  If you’re willing, please let Helen know asap!

ST. LUKE’S 1959-1974
Join us by Zoom at 11am on Sunday, June 20th to listen to our first Discerning Vision Panel.  Helen will interview long-term St. Luke’s members about what St. Luke’s was like from 1959-1974.  This will be in place of our normal Zoom coffee hour and use the same Zoom link.  (We hope to have a recording available for those who are unable to attend.)  Watch live here.

FAMILY RETREAT DAYS
St. Luke’s will host 3 Sunday Retreat days for families, though everyone can join us!  It will be a fun time of games, projects and working to develop your family mission statement.  As we transition from pandemic time to the next season of life, what do you want to let go of? What do you want to hold onto? And how do you want to center your family intentions together?  Plan to do all three as they build on each other. Sundays June 27, July 25 and August TBD
10:30am-12:30pm in-person or online. Registration required to get all the details, supplies and links.

DIOCESAN CONVENTION DELEGATE NOMINATIONS
At the July 19th Vestry meeting we will be electing our new Diocesan Convention Delegate.  This person will serve a 3-year term.  We will also elect 3 alternates for one-year terms.
The person with the most votes becomes the 3-year delegate and the three next highest votes become our alternate delegates for this year.  Our current delegates are Bobbie Hendrix and Jan Freeman.
The delegate needs to be able to attend Diocesan Convention all day on Fri, Nov 19 and Sat, Nov 20.  (With a similar time frame in 2022 and 2023)
This year’s convention is planned as an in-person event in  Winston-Salem, but our delegates should be able to attend online if required.
If you would like to be considered as a delegate, please send your name to Senior Warden, Eileen Morgan, by July 1, 2021

GREEN & GROW CLUB!
Summer fun and formation from the Diocese of North Carolina. Our St. Luke’s children will receive 6 mailings (one every other week) beginning the week of June 7. Each postcard will include a link where families can find a Bible story, an activity, prayers, a list of books to check out at their local library, and simple ways to care for creation. If you have questions, please contact Laura.

PAULI MURRAY SERVICE
The  diocesan Pauli Murray service will be shared online on July 1 at 7p.m. The Rev’d Kim Jackson, Georgia state senator, will preach.  Several St. Luke’s members are part of the virtual choir, edited by our own Kaye Saunders.  The service can be viewed on the St.Titus’ Facebook page; the Diocese of North Carolina Facebook page and YouTube channel; and the  Pauli Murray Project Facebook page

DISCERNING VISION TEAM MEETING
The St. Luke’s Discerning Vision Team met for the first time last week.  We spent the first half of the meeting getting to know one another.  We then tried a guided imagery prayer experience where we encountered our “future self” at the St. Luke’s of the future.  We shared what we noticed with one another, and we hold onto that vision of what St. Luke’s could become.   Helen then shared a list of different ways to pray and to read the Bible, and each participant committed to deeper prayer and/or Bible study between now and early 2022.
On June 20, we will have our first Listening Session to hear more about what St. Luke’s was like between 1956-1974.  Stay tuned for more info!
