St. Luke’s Stewardship Moment of Light
April 2021
I cannot do all the good that the world needs. But the world needs all the good that I can do. – Jana Stanfield When Covid-19 has passed and we are all safely vaccinated, we will start to gather again after a long period. One of the things I am looking forward to is the Spring Fling! Or, in 2021 the Fall Fling! This community-wide effort is giving at its finest and most fun! (Okay, maybe the Pumpkin Patch is a little more festive.) Spring Fling/Fall Fling not only brings in funds for St. Luke’s Outreach grants to local nonprofit organizations, it brings folks from the wider Durham Community to St. Luke’s … folks we might otherwise never meet. Spring Fling also brings St. Lukers together for sorting and pricing, making signs, cashiering, or making delicious biscuits and coffee. This community-wide effort brings many of us together who might never have gotten to know each other. It is a win, win, win, win: *You get to clean out your old/unused items from your house; *Our neighbors get to purchase needed or wanted items at a fraction of their original cost; *Our nonprofit partners receive much needed funding from our sales; *Spring Fling/Fall Fling is good for the environment – better a new home than the landfill! That thing you don’t need anymore is JUST THE THING that someone else has been looking for, or can’t live without, or perhaps can’t afford to purchase! I can’t think of a better way to meet our neighbors where they are while also helping our wider Durham Community. The world truly needs all the good we can do. Lisa D’Amico |
