6 DRIVERS NEEDED
We would like to offer a Holy Week Front Porch Drop Off for this year.  In order for this to happen, we need more drivers!  If you are willing to spend half a day (or a bit more) driving from home to home to drop off Holy Week supplies to member’s homes, please contact Helen by March 15th.  Thank you!

MEETING GOD IN BOOKS THIS WEEK
Our Lenten Program this year is Meeting God in Books.  We will met on Zoom from 6-7pm on Wednesdays March 10, 17 and 24th.  Each night one St. Luker will share about a book that has mattered in their life and we will discuss some themes and ideas from that book.
This week, Kaye Saunders will share about Sheldon Vanauken”s A Severe Mercy.

FINDING A MINISTRY
Susan Smith Wharton asked Helen for support as she found a ministry fit.  Here’s the result, “I am a recent mid-pandemic transfer to your wonderful church, as I was drawn in through Helen’s Zoom sermons and the church’s commitment to compassionate outreach for others.
As a lifelong Episcopalian, my daily prayers have always included, “Make me useful in Thy sight.”  Particularly during this pandemic this can be a real challenge.  My prayers were answered shortly after my vaccination, with the opportunity to join other healthcare professionals who are administering the COVID vaccine to the underserved populations in Durham.  This was the answer to my prayer, “What is my purpose now?”
Thank you, Susan, for sharing your journey with us!

JOIN A BOARD
At last week’s Coffee Hour, we talked about how using your voice on city and county boards can greatly impact our neighbors for good.  To volunteer for a city board, find out more here.  To volunteer for a county board, find out more here.  To find out more about what it’s like being on one of these boards, talk to Bobbie Hendrix.

FREE ONLINE EXERCISE
Michelle Rogers used to offer chair exercise in Johnson Hall.  She now offers online classes, including free classes Tuesday and Thursdays at 10am.  You can sign up here.
If those days don’t work for you, you can find her whole (paid) schedule here.

CHARITABLE DEDUCTIONS
Did you know non-itemizers can deduct $300 for charitable donations on their taxes?  More info here.

GARDENS AND GROUNDS
Please join us on Saturday, April 24th, 8:00 to 10:00 for our first 2021 St. Luke’s Gardens and Grounds Workday.  Bring water, hat, gloves and any helpful gardening tools. COVID protocols are followed.  However, fellowship at 6′ is required!  As usual, many hands make quick work.
Email Patty Michaels for more information.

How Can I Help?
BECOME A WORSHIP LEADER
St. Luke’s has a small and faithful group of people helping to lead our online worship, and we’re looking to expand this group.  If you are able to use Zoom, can meet on Thursday afternoons, and would be willing to be a worship reader, please contact Helen.
How about music?  Even if you haven’t been in our choir before, we would love to have you as part of our virtual choir or to offer a solo or instrumental piece.  These you record at home on your own time.  If you’re willing and able, please contact Kaye.

EL BUEN PASTOR FOOD DISTRIBUTION
St. Luke’s members and friends (16 years and older) are encouraged to help with the monthly food distribution out of El Buen Pastor.  Distributions are normally from 7:30-12:30 (come all or just part of the time) on the 1st Saturday of the month.  For more info, please contact Peter Jacobi (corrected link) who is a regular St. Luke’s participant.

LASAGNA LOVE
If you are able to make a casserole for a local household that could use some help, or if you would be blessed by having a casserole made for you, check out Lasagna Love.  Click here to find out more.

KEEP CLERGY IN THE LOOP
Please make sure to keep the clergy in the loop if there are any needs or concerns you have or you know about.  You can e-mail Helen at any time.

REMEMBER, Your clergy will not send you e-mail or texts messages asking for gift cards or financial help.
