New This Week
Lizzie McManus-Dail’s ordination to the priesthood has been postponed due to rising COVID rates.  Her new ordination date is Saturday, April 17th, still in the courtyard of St. Michael’s in Austin, TX.  You can contact  Lizzie here.

COVID vaccines are available through Duke for anyone 75 years old and older. To make an appointment for your vaccine, click here or call 919-385-0492.

With the launch of St. Luke’s new web site earlier this year, we gained the ability to allow Rector Helen and other staff to directly share thoughts and information they want you to have. In addition to the weekly Rector’s Blog, where Helen shared stories of parishioners’ generosity in her latest post, Rev. Laura has a Family Ministry Blog, with a new entry posted this week, and Kaye has a Music Ministry Blog. You can see a digest of the most recent posts either on our home page or by visiting , or by using the Blogs entry in the top menu of our site.

Our 2021 Gospel Based Discipleship booklets are here.  If you would like one of these booklets that give daily bible readings as well as diocesan prayer lists, please contact Kathy.
How Can I Help?
St. Luke’s members and friends (16 years and older) are encouraged to help with the monthly food distribution out of El Buen Pastor.  Distributions are normally from 7:30-12:30 (come all or just part of the time) on the 1st Saturday of the month.  For more info, please contact Peter Jacobi who is a regular St. Luke’s participant.

Please make sure to keep the clergy in the loop if there are any needs or concerns you have or you know about.  You can e-mail Helen at any time.

REMEMBER, Your clergy will not send you e-mail or texts messages asking for gift cards or financial help.
Share Your Christmas Wrap-Up
Your Share Your Christmas Gifts Have Had a HUGE Impact!

St. Luke’s shattered our giving goal, thanks to you!  2020 Share Your Christmas “St. Luke’s Family” donations totaled more than $7,400, almost 250% of our goal!

As a result, St. Luke’s provided substantial help to 11 families– two more than we had originally hoped to help. In addition, all 24 Maple Court veterans received gift cards, and we were able to donate $500 to the Maple Court Food Pantry fund.

All the “St. Luke’s Families” were extremely grateful for their gift cards.  Here are two stories that stand out:

—When she found out that she could be a part of the St. Luke’s Share Your Christmas program this year, one woman simply burst into tears on the telephone.  She said she had no money and no way to handle her expenses.  She said God sent us in answer to her prayers.

—A single father of four called to say he was thrilled to receive his SYC gift cards.  He and his children sometimes go window shopping: “We can never afford to buy anything, but it’s fun for the kids just to go look.”  This year, he took his family window shopping to WalMart on the Saturday before Christmas. Every so often, he would see one of his children’s eyes light up as they looked at a particular item, and he would tap something into his phone. “The kids thought I was texting someone,” he said, “but I was recording what they really liked.”  After the group returned home, the father returned to the store and purchased favorite presents for everyone.  “This is the first Christmas my kids will actually get the things they want the most,” he said. “It’s going to be a big surprise!  I was also able to get all our favorite food for a great Christmas dinner!  Please thank everyone at St. Luke’s for being so generous.”

Thanks to everyone who helped make this Christmas special for our neighbors in need.
