Education

Christian education is more than just "Sunday school."  What we often call "formation" is a lifelong process, for adults, youth, and children.  It might look like a Sunday morning Godly Play class, afternoon youth group, or mid-week Bible study.  It might be a Fall "quiet day" or an Education for Ministry (EfM) group meeting on a weekday or weeknight.  These faith formation events are at the heart of becoming who God is calling us to be.  They shape the mind, heart, and even the body.  What shape are we looking for?  In worship we sometimes use the the phrase, "grow into the full stature of Christ."  With God's help, we are continually transformed, made compassionate and close to God.

Education for Children

St. Luke's welcomes children starting at four years of age to participate in a Montessori approach to Christian education. Based in scripture and tradition, the "Godly Play" program helps children grow in faith in ways that fit their age and development.

Youth Ministries

We provide a soulful and fun environment for our middle and high school students to explore their faith. We value fun, service to others, worship, and learning. Youth participate in many of the activities of St. Luke's alongside adults, but there are some special ways for youth to get involved as well.

Education for Adults

St. Luke's offers a number of educational opportunities for adults. Some of these offerings are geared to all adults, some to newcomers, some to parents. Some are offered on Sunday mornings, others on weekdays or weeknights. Some require a year-long commitment, others require only a single hour. All are geared to help and support you as you grow in the Christian faith.

Education for New Members

Our adult inquiters' classes are typically held in the few months prior to the bishop's pastoral visit to St. Luke's. At the end of the class, adults who choose to do so can be presented to the bishop to be baptized, confirmed, received from another denomination, or to reaffirm their baptismal covenant.

Even if there isn't an official inquirers' class currently meeting or coming up in the near future, there are many opportunities to learn about the Episcopal Church in general or about St. Luke's in particular.
